5 Things with Motors That Can Be Recycled

Although the average person is well aware that materials such as metal, paper, and plastic are recyclable, some may not realize that they can also recycle certain types of electronics. For instance, there are several types of electronics and those with motors, in particular, that can be recycled. With that in mind, here is a list of 5 things with motors that can be recycled.

Pumps

One of the top things with motors that can be recycled is the pump. There are various types of standard household products that include pumps in some capacity, and when they become worn down or otherwise need to be replaced. For instance, they may be used to help circulate the water within your fish tank, as a part of medical devices, and more. Either way, when it’s time to get rid of these pumps, many of them can be recycled.

Fans

Another major appliance with a motor that can be recycled is the fan. Whether you use them to help cool off a room, keep the air circulating, or eliminate moisture in spaces such as the basement or bathroom, fans are appliances that tend to last for years. For instance, you may have a ceiling fan, desk fan, standing fans, or even mini/personal fans. Also, products such as space heaters, blow dryers, leaf blowers, etc., all have fans in them. Given that the motor is one of the most essential parts of all of these products, once they become damaged, it is time to get rid of the entire appliance. Before throwing them in the garbage, be advised that the motors and other parts may be recyclable.

Washers, Dryers, and Dishwashers

Moreover, most homes have a washer, dryer, and/or dishwasher. All of these appliances are highly expensive and are typically used regularly for years on end. However, once the motor is broken, you either need to replace it or purchase an entirely new appliance. No matter which of these you choose, you should know that these motors are recyclable and can be taken to your local recycling center.

Other Kitchen Appliances

In addition to dishwashers, other motorized kitchen appliances can be recycled. For instance, devices such as blenders, garbage disposals, etc., are all motorized and can be recycled. If you’re unsure whether your motor can be recycled, feel free to contact your local recycling plant.

Garage Door Openers

Lastly, garage door openers also include motors that can be recycled. Given that garage door openers are used frequently, you often need to replace the engine several times in order to maintain it over the years. Luckily, the motors can be recycled, which helps lower your carbon footprint.

Overall, plenty of products and appliances in your home include recyclable motors. Recycling motors is not only good for your environment but can also allow them to be repurposed to create sustainable, refurbished products. Either way, auto salvage yards and car recycling plants can benefit the most from these blown motors.
